NOW OS — the Nexus of Work Operating System — breaks an organization's work down to its smallest meaningful pieces, computes for each piece whether a human or AI should perform it, and runs the resulting mixed workforce of people and AI agents — with governance, audit, and provenance built in.
The thesis
The conventional play starts from the agent or tool, grants it autonomy, bolts on guardrails afterward, and calls the result automation. NOW OS starts from the work: it decomposes the organization to atomic actions, then engineers the human–AI allocation for each one. Same conventional AI primitives — a radically different methodology.

The four answers
A 26-dimension scoring engine places every atomic action in one of four modes — separating "can it run autonomously?" from "at what consequence?" Two equally automatable actions can land in different modes purely because of stakes.

Governance
Governance in NOW OS is structural, not optional — it cannot be switched off, and it cannot be satisfied by a disclaimer.
Everything the agents discover or recommend is filed as a candidate. A named human on the customer's Strategic Advisory Board approves, denies, or defers — every time.
Every governance decision and execution event lands in a tamper-evident, hash-chained audit log — and the chain is re-verified on every read, not stamped once and trusted forever.
Restricted work — FERPA, HIPAA, PCI, export-control — carries enforced control floors, so it can never be silently over-automated. Non-compliant work is refused at ingest, fail-closed.
